Hi, I’m Tara!
Though my primary career is in software development and architecture, my passions lie in doing my part to revegetate the planet! What began as a desire to turn my own backyard into a beautiful landscape that grew food for both myself and local wildlife has organically grown into helping friends & family do the same.
Now my hope is to help you transform your own outdoor space into a beautiful, productive landscape that serves both your family and the planet. Together, we’ll bridge the gap between traditional landscape aesthetics, edible plant cultivation, and native habitat, guided by regenerative and permaculture principles along the way.
Our Growth Journey
I'm currently creating a living portfolio of designs across the landscapes of our foundational clients. These spaces serve as real-world demonstrations of how to balance all three pillars of our approach: traditional landscape aesthetics, edible gardening, and native habitat creation.
These properties are becoming living demonstrations where you’ll be able to see firsthand how beautiful outdoor spaces can serve both your family and the planet. Each showcases different techniques and solutions, from rain gardens that manage water sustainably to edible landscaping that integrates seamlessly with ornamental plantings to help you reduce your carbon footprint.
Alongside these showcase designs, I'm developing a mini nursery focused on propagating the native perennials that form the backbone of our ecological landscapes. As White Oak Design Works grows, we plan to expand this nursery to include native trees, fruit trees, and berry bushes that support all three pillars of our design philosophy.
As we continue to grow, we're preparing to offer a wider range of services, including:
Comprehensive ecological landscape design services
Custom landscape plans that integrate non-invasive ornamentals, edibles, and natives
Specialized design solutions for challenging spaces or specific ecosystem function improvements
As White Oak Design Works continues to develop, we're selectively collaborating with clients who share our vision for sustainable, beautiful outdoor spaces. Each project will become part of our living portfolio and contributes to our collective knowledge of what works in our local ecosystems, while inspiring neighbors and community members of the agency for positive change that they have through their own landscapes as well.
